Third-party Services

When you’re moving invaluable and oversized items like vintage cars and high-end pool tables, rely on speciality movers. Monteith Group arranges to have even the largest and most delicate items to be disassembled, transported and assembled at your new residence for protection and transportation second to none.

Transit Protection

As the professional long distance movers Vancouver Island residents trust, we uphold a standard of excellence to ensure your items are handled with the utmost care at every step. During moves, though, incidents can happen that can lead to damage. That’s why we offer complete transit protection in two options: released value or replacement value protection. We’ll gladly walk you through these options so you understand how you can enjoy complete peace of mind for your move.

Released Value Protection

We’re pleased to include basic Released Value Protection to all of our customers at no charge. This protection package offers coverage of your possessions up to a maximum of $0.60 per pound per article.

For example, if you have an article that weighs 100 pounds and it’s lost or damaged during the move, $60 is the maximum amount payable to you by Monteith Group. For damaged items, Monteith Group reserves the option to repair it to your satisfaction or replace it to the maximum value provided under the Released Value Protection.

Example: If a reading that weighs 30 pounds was damaged, 
 your maximum settlement would be $18.00 ($0.60 x 30 pounds).

If an item was lost or damaged and you used Monteith Group’s packing services, the average weight of the carton is used to determine the amount payable.

Example: If a clock that weighs 5 pounds was damaged in a carton that totals 15 pounds,
 your maximum settlement would be $9.00 ($0.60 x 15 pounds).

It’s unlikely, but in the event of a total loss, the maximum protection offered is $0.60 per pound of your shipment’s total weight.

Example: If a fire were to occur and your total shipment was 8,000 pounds, 
 your maximum settlement would be $4,800.00 ($0.60 x 8,000 pounds).

Released Value Protection is offered at no cost to you, but it isn’t recommended unless you have additional household possession insurance, which often offers protection of your items in the process of load and unloading as well as transportation and storage. We recommend asking your insurance provider about the coverage you have for your household possessions.

Replacement Value Protection

Imagine moving with complete peace of mind knowing that in the unlikely event something should happen to your items, you have the complete assurance of Replacement Value Protection.

Replacement Value Protection ensures that if one of your items becomes lost or damaged during your move, Monteith Group will restore it to its original condition through repairs, or replace it at today’s market value.

This protection package is informed by the valuation you assign to your items, so we recommend taking care to determine fair value to replace your possessions. The only stipulation with Replacement Value Protection is that shipments must be protected to a minimum of $10.00 per pound, which is then multiplied by your household goods’ weight (actual weight on long-distance moves and estimated weight on local moves).

Example: If the estimated weight of your shipment is 10,000 pounds, 
 you must apply replacement coverage of no less than $100,000.00 ($10.00 x 10,000 pounds).
